Canine Behaviour & Management Level 6 Advanced Diploma

Dog Behaviour Practitioner Level 5 Diploma

Supported by over 15 years of experience working with dogs in rescue and private practice.

As a qualified Canine Behaviourist, i assess each dog as an individual, identifying the underlying causes of behaviour rather than simply addressing the symptoms.

Do you need a Behaviourist or a Trainer?

A Behaviourist assesses the underlying causes of behavioural problems and develops an individual treatment plan.

A Trainer teaches dogs new skills and behaviours, helping them learn and respond reliably to cues.

While there can be some overlap, Behaviourists focus on resolving behavioural problems, whereas Trainers focus on teaching new behaviours.

In many ways, Behaviourists are like therapists for dogs. Rather than teaching new skills, the focus is on understanding why the behaviour has developed and helping both dog and owner work through it.

My additional qualifications as a Clinical Canine Massage Therapist complement my behaviour work.

By recognising signs of pain, gait changes and musculoskeletal dysfunction that may influence behaviour, I can ensure each behaviour plan considers both your dog's physical and emotional wellbeing.

Evidence-based practice.

Force-free methods.

I use force-free, evidence-based methods to understand and change canine behaviour. I do not use force, intimidation, scare tactics, pain or aversive tools.

Research has shown that aversive techniques do not resolve the underlying cause of behavioural problems.

While they may temporarily suppress behaviour, they can increase fear, anxiety and negative associations, making lasting behavioural change far less likely.

Common behavioural problems include reactivity, aggression, fear, separation related behaviours,, compulsive behaviours and anxiety.

If your dog is struggling with behavioural issues, I can help identify the underlying causes and work with you to develop practical,, evidence-based strategies to support positive behavioural change.

I do not offer board and train programmes. Lasting behavioural change happens when owners are actively involved. My role is to equip you with the knowledge and the practical skills to support your dog long after your behavioural  consultation .

Veterinary consent is required before every behavioural consultation.

A dog's genetics, early learning experiences, and breed characteristics all influence behaviour. Nutrition, exercise, mental stimulation and meeting basic needs are all considered when developing a behaviour plan.

You'll receive a clear step-by-step behaviour plan tailored to your dog, together with a follow-up review consultation and ongoing telephone and email support.

Every behaviour plan is designed around your individual dog, supporting both you and your dog to achieve realistic, lasting change together.
